Decatur climbs to No. 4 ranking


After incomes bi-district and space gold ball trophies, the Decatur Lady Eagles have ascended within the state rankings.

Decatur (27-1, 12-Zero) moved to fourth within the Texas Girls Coaches Association’s 4A playoff ballot launched Wednesday.

The Lady Eagles jumped up from the fifth-ranking after No. 2 Lindale misplaced to Nevada Community, 27-25, 18-25, 25-17, 21-25, 15-6.

The Lady Eagles are behind Needville, China Spring and Hereford.

Decatur claimed their playoff in a pair of postseason sweeps. The Lady Eagles swept Eastern Hills, 25-6, 25-Zero-, 25-7, and Brownwood, 25-14, 25-6, 25-14.

The Lady Eagles performed their regional quarterfinal match towards District 7-4A rival Argyle Thursday.

The Boyd Lady Jackets (26-4, 13-1) additionally claimed two wins within the postseason, however remained out of the 3A ballot.

Like Decatur, the Lady Jackets have claimed sweeps of their playoff matchups. Boyd swept Life Oak Cliff within the bi-district spherical, 25-4, 25-6, 25-6, and gained the world match towards Blue Ridge, 25-12, 25-15, 25-18.

The Lady Jackets confronted 10-3A foe Callisburg of their regional quarterfinal battle Thursday.
